The first attempt at building the topographical relief was akin to stone walling. The idea was to conserve the tiles and to be able to recycle them in future installations. Therefore they were placed sequentially but not glued. The construction was attacked by Cherry stones and Pigeons in June and continually eroded by rain storms and of course the Dog. The grass grew in from the edges and the worms processed the soil depositing it above ground, hills and mountains were too easily levelled and the whole installation required constant repair. Glueing only commenced at the end of the Summer when it became clear that the constant destruction was otherwise inevitable.
